ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN

Urban Village 2006
Developing the idea from an "Urban Condenser".

"Skylink System" 2006

A New Form of Transport for London - The idea was to build the sky-link approach system in Britain using national technology and industries (the idea was to be home-grown).
Two of these could be shipped in a 20 ft / 6 m shipping container as an export to other countries.
Above is a concept capsule 3 m long including "in-transit carcassing" shown dotted.
Promoting Social Integration 2006
The video above is based on the work carried out at the University of Greenwich, which has culminated in a 2021 video series looking at "Promoting Social Integration".
This video is a series of slides set to music.
A presentation that describes the "Fresh Beginnings" of a theoretical masterplan for Burgess Park, Southwark, London.
The videos examine the current uses of the park and the built form, which informs the emergence of a new masterplan.
Burgess Park 2006

The detail of an "urban condenser" design is emerging towards a vision of urban reform.

"Green Fingers" to coin a phrase was an idea of linking public and private spaces through not just footpaths and side alleys and pavements but through urban spaces. These small off main road spaces would be pedestrianized like small village high streets. A mixture of public / private spaces and there subdivisions : semi-private and semi-public spaces.
"Soundbox" 2004

A 6 metre long Container split in half length wise was a novel idea and designed with a skeletal backbone hinge the crux of its technical wizardry was hidden on counter balances and hidden wheels. The idea was born out of an audio book with some visual experience, which would travel the nation and bring rural life and planning to city dwellers. Likewise it has potential to bring city life and planning to rural dwellers in a cross pollinating effect.
"Seeing is Believing" 2003
From the book by John Berger the video link above offers an insight into village life in North Essex and the variety of activities that happen just outside the front door...
The brief video explores the advantages and disadvantages of living in a village.
Starting out with a bleak outlook, the story unfolds and the video tells of the day to day life. The "would-be architect" observes the various potential problems between horses, dog walkers, drivers, residents and footballers, but finally celebrates the village life where all exist in harmony with each other.
What lessons can be learned for the bigger picture?
Can this be applied to the capital?
