Chapter 1 - "The Tortured Soul"

Metallica - Ecstacy of Gold (Live)

Theme: Hidden Parallels & Different Dimensions

Summary : Creative Writjng

( The following is MY OWN CREATIVE WRITING ) :

Alone again, the traveller wanders into a bar blinded by the midday sun.

Does he drink or ask for directions? Neither, he realises his mistake, turns and starts making for the door. Why did he come here, it had all changed, many years had passed and the tables had turned.

Pausing for a moment to admire the Piano hidden in the corner, like a display item, perched up high on the raised platform, he smiled and continued walking towards the door.

But before he could get to the door, a lonely figure rose from his chair and said “Good-day friend”.

The traveller raised the peak on his cap, still wet from the morning dew, many layers has he consumed on his journey and already those closest to his hand are torn, engrained with dirt, but only one catches the saloon owners eye.

Blood, still wet, was slowly dripping onto the floor like a crimson sea flooding the spot where he stood. He stopped to wipe the sweat from his brow. Unsure, was he hallucinating or dreaming, the traveller held out his hand, as if to shake the old mans hand, but the old man faded away.

Was he a ghost or had he disappeared from his view?

Still remembering those innocent years when he rode in as a young rogue. The memory remained strong, the once bustling saloon bar had been the hidden gem of the west. The smell of young women still hung in the air heavy with musk, with the occasional blessing of a light perfume from a young apprentice.

Wiping the dust from his lips, his journey long and hard, he paused and muttered words only audible by the younger man behind the bar.

His load was heavy, carried inside a concealed box. Was it treasure, jewellery perhaps, no, it was a delicacy, a gift from his father to his son, carried miles across the open desert, like a concrete noose around his neck. The man places it in the hand of his outstretched friend.

Words defy the moment, the two men stood and shared a look of understanding. If it was not for the past and its mysteries which stood between them, they would not have such mutual respect, not known each other’s life story and what each had meant to one another.

The traveller stood there straight up leaning on the bar now, drifting in and out of consciousness as if sleepy, consumed by the drink he had already found in his hand in that moment, which seemed to have lasted a lifetime.

The light swung heavy between the old man and his comrade, whom now stood at his side, brandishing his wrench, an old wagon lay up in front of the bar. The traveller turned, raised an eyebrow in the direction of his former comrade and the old man, his layers swirling in the wicked west wind. “Don’t worry, its cool” he muttered as he passed them both. He knew he had overstayed his welcome. It was time he headed back toward the Shadows of the North…

Chapter 15 - "A New Dawn"

Pendulum - Granite

Theme: Saving our community, nation and the planet.

Summary: This is a discussive look at a cleaner Britain.

A New Dawn

As we approach a time of Brexit Britain, its time to refocus our attention to the effects we have on our own world.

There is plastic in the seas, tsunamis and other weather and planet phenomenon, which 20 years ago which would have been and gone unreported as climate change. Not to mention the humanitarian crises that go with climate change. The arctic and Antarctic are changing 8 times faster than our microclimates in Britain… so what is the answer…?

So, spare a thought for climate change…

1. your choice of car…how many g/km emissions…

2. electric cars are great, but what about the infrastructure of the supporting power stations.

3. can you insulate your house?

4. or change the boiler…? subsidies are available for low income householders with a mortgage…

5. go small carbon footprint with a borehole background heating system.

6. low carbon footprint houses will have a bright future if architects re-educate people.

7. how may “kg” of emissions does your luggage cause for you flight to holiday and how much extra fuel must we consume?

8. Which choice of detergent do you make?

9. How “green” can you go?

10. Life Choices:

These are life choices we can all make and by recycling and reusing materials we can all have some positive effects on the future planet.

We all need to think about the way in which we “treat our planet”…

As I am writing this, I am selling my car, which is an efficient diesel.

My choice is to pollute less in this world. Electric is my choice of car.

I am reducing my carbon footprint and saving money… are you?

Let’s discuss this as a community… is it really still socially acceptable to be producing V12 petrol road going cars?

Let’s aspire to the cars of the future… not just electric plug ins with power produced by power stations…

Why stop there? Let’s produce our own power at home and plug in our fully electric cars… recycle our photovoltaic panels for newer ones… and potentially a hydrogen cell powered aeroplane of the future is the way forward.

Think of all the technology for cars to drive themselves… is this a good thing? Think hard, more cars driving themselves equals a potentially higher number on the roads.

All that thought behind autonomous cars could be channelled into a new power source which does not release harmful CO2 emissions.

All the above are past, present and future ideas of becoming ecologically friendly.

You determine the change to an ecologically sound Britain… lets clean-up… lets become more aware and think about our carbon footprints… for a cleaner, brighter, more sustainable Britain.

I am putting in effort to help raise awareness to strive “for a better, cleaner, future Britain”… are you?

Chapter 16 - "A New Britain"

Song : Metallica - Nothing Else Matters

Theme: Saving our community, society and nation

Summary: A discussion / debate about a more cohesive society.

A New Britain (30.05.20):

Are we all stressed out …. or were we ?

I think those in "essential services" are still stressed out in their day to day jobs.

Pandemic current and past aside, they have worked tirelessly through the "lockdown".

So do we have a very different Britain at this moment in time?

Those that have worked (because they had to as their civic duty) and those outside that epicentre of modern day life.

So, its good to be on the cusp of "lockdown relaxing"... however we must "stay alert" and be open to "test and trace".

Upon reflection, then, looking back and learning from the last two months... we know we can survive, but also trust in (the majority) of others....

Has society changed? Has it become "better" … has society recovered from the rat race?

Is it now more cohesive? I will let you decide....

Personally, I think we are seeing a "new Britain", one reformed by the pandemic, reformed by necessity.

Reformed by the need to survive? Were we all rushing towards oblivion, headlong, like blind mice / rats.

Trust in others and they will help you.

So "forever trust in who we are"....? (Metallica : Nothing Else Matters).

It might be a video of the making of the song... but like society itself, its many component parts maketh more than the "kit of parts" at the beginning.

The kits of parts evolves pushed by "expectations"... but what if those are unfounded routed in capitalism… is that a good thing? Probably not.

I am no innocent bystander... I feel enveloped by the capitalist world we live in... however I am striving to find a new path / new awareness... but is there one?

"Open mind for a different view.....?"

Questions for you:

Is diversification of income the new wave of survival technique?

Do you feel the "moment" and can you remember those little moments with the kids especially when they are young.. every moment is special... you never get the time back. I know to my cost. What parent and breadwinner doesn't?

An online business... is that your way forward?

Who knows... a good old brainstorm this morning. We are all different individuals of course.

Good luck friends and family... I hope I have provided some food for thought....

See you all soon, I hope.

Chapter 17 "Re-birth"

Song : Snow Patrol - Open your eyes

Theme: re-awakening amidst the pandemic

Summary: A discussion about a greater awareness in society.

The coming weeks will be a test of resolve and awareness as we try all of us in the UK and beyond to adjust to the world post

PEAK of the pandemic.

Chapter 18 - "Beyond Imagination"

Pushing the limits of your imagination is amazing. A technique I try in my dreams when I am asleep...

But could reality become augmented in this way? Probably with the right technology. Then yes... I am not trying to confuse you all. Its here already. Its as simple as life and as complicated, as you want to make it.

Chapter 19 - "Developing Horizons / People First"

"Feel the love" is a great song, which embodies the chance of a decade to develop your horizons... PEOPLE FIRST is a look at the idea of putting people first in a community... the community could be an urban village... rural community... or a microcosm like a farm or a micro-entity such as a live work unit... its about focusing in on the intensity of land use and how we can create better spaces via developing our horizons and listening to our clients needs.

Chapter 20 - "Love and Unity"

Song : Bob Sinclar - World Hold On

Theme: Examining a better understanding of love and unity

Summary: A discussion about a better understanding of love and unity worldwide.

So "patience and understanding" are often forgotten values it seems in our busy lives, but a brave new world is emerging from the Covid-19 pandemic.

We often read and hear about news that people are finding new ways to cope amongst the uncertainty of the pandemic. Not only mentally, physically and logistically but also to encourage a generation to continue learning.

For example: new / diversified businesses supplying laptops to schools for remote working.

We must continue to show our children love and the unity they deserve, however tricky it might be.
