Residential

We have considerable experience in the residential sector, working on small to extensive bespoke extensions and refurbishments through to new build houses and apartments. These include masonry, traditional and prefabricated timber frame structures. We have overseen and inspected work such as lime based mortar to soft red brickwork in historic/ listed buildings through to multi layered metal partitioning systems installed within new concrete frame multi-storey apartments.

Stevenage

This project is an extensive remodel and rear extension of a modern 1970's brick detached house in East Hertfordshire. The initial brief was for a single storey rear extension to incorporate a new contemporary kitchen and a reconfigured utility room. This provided an opportunity for an uninterrupted view of the garden from a new lean-to, linked via a visual line of sight / axis from the front door to the back of the rear garden.

Hockley

The initial project brief was to extend the original bungalow upwards, providing 4 first floor bedrooms, whilst modernising the ground floor layout and refurbishing the existing spaces. Furthermore, whilst we were designing the upper floor, the client decided to instruct the submission of a later second application for a full width single storey rear extension.

The result is a well proportioned open plan kitchen / dining space with vaulted ceiling, two roof lights and sliding door set which provide a vista point to the central access of the established rear garden.

Orsett

A family home which required an upgrade to the existing conservatory via demolition and extension of the existing house. The detached dwelling, thought to have been built between 1990 and 2000, had not been extended before.

The project brief was to extend out as much as possible, whilst retaining a good view of the garden from the first floor windows and providing an open plan living and dining space, linked via a new opening from the kitchen.

The 6m long rear bi-folding doors create the desired link to the outside space, essential for this fitness fanatic family.

Central Essex Restaurant Conversion & Refurbishment

The redevelopment of the site of a former licensed restaurant which resulted in 4 houses with a cumulative floor space of over 8000sqft.

As a speculative development each house featured open plan living, bi-fold doors to the garden, and high quality fixtures and fittings throughout.

The result is four executive style, 4, 5 and 6 bedroom houses on the outskirts of Chelmsford near Roxwell.

There really is "no project too big or small" for us. We think an eye for detail and design is essential.

Beazley End

A one off new build speculative development which resulted in the successful sale of this 5 bedroom executive home. The planning permission had already been established, however we managed to add value to the house by redesigning the internal layout, rearranging the staircases, re-organising bathrooms / en-suites and improving the proportions of first floor bedrooms.

The dwelling provides 5 double bedrooms each with countryside views, an open plan living arrangement combined with  french doors to the garden, and high quality fixtures and fittings throughout.

Perfect for a young growing family.

West Sussex Farmhouse

We provided the construction drawing package for the property above. This included construction and detailed drawings for the 3 storey contemporary farmhouse. The project was very much a grand design by Malby Architects and will be a local landmark.

We provided several site plans, general arrangement drawings including detailed technical sections and a brief specification.

The Old Paddocks

The planning and technical package for 3 new build bungalows, on the site of a former stables and agricultural shed, was commissioned via Malby Architects on behalf of a developer client.

The brief was to develop a light and bright interior to these shallow pitched slate roofed dwellings.

The site required a linear approach with views to the south east, overlooking the existing old paddocks, arranged under an overhanging roof supported by timber posts set out at 3.6m intervals.

Therefore the design was carefully orchestrated to emulate the setting out and proportions of the former stables.

Each dwelling has a three section roof light over the hallway, which leads onto an open plan kitchen / dining / living area with wood burner. The bedrooms are organised to look rearwards onto a court yard garden facing north west.
